100 Women in Cycling

Becca Thomas has been named one of Cycling UK's 100 Women in Cycling 2025, a recognition that reflects the collective effort to create safer streets for all, making cycling more just, and to prevent further lives being lost 🧡 This award reflects our determination to continue building change.

Becca is recognised as a Community Champion category for the work done by Waiting to Happen in memory and honour of Emma Burke Newman, who deserves a piece of this recognition, as do Maeve Dolan, Samuel Stair, Zoe Grainge and Marc Cairns, without whose support Waiting to Happen would not exist.

Thank you to everyone who has supported and campaigned alongside us; your encouragement means so much and continues to drive the work to make safer cities for everyone.

We also want to be transparent, Becca and our team challenged this year’s exclusion of trans* and non-binary people.

Becca chose to accept the award after receiving reassurance that this year’s criteria were an exception and that full inclusivity will return.

She also accepted because the work we’ve done through 'Waiting to Happen' has mattered profoundly to the team at New Practice and to Emma’s family and friends, and New Practice, led by Becca, feel a duty to honour that work while pushing for change from within.
